DocsEmbedded Wallet
The self-custodial wallet Astro creates for you automatically.
When you log in with an email or a social account, Astro automatically creates a self-custodial wallet for you: no browser extension, no seed phrase to write down, no separate app to install. It's a real wallet with a real address on Robinhood Chain; Astro just removes the setup step.
Who controls it
The wallet is yours. Astro's servers hold a limited, revocable permission to submit specific game transactions on your behalf (placing a bet, approving the Bankroll), never a blanket permission to move your funds wherever it wants. Anything that sends your funds elsewhere (a withdrawal to another address, for instance) is signed by you, client-side.
There is currently no way to export your embedded wallet's private key from the Astro app. If you want an external wallet you fully control the keys to from day one, connect one instead of using the embedded wallet.
Using an external wallet instead
If you'd rather not use the embedded wallet, you can connect an existing wallet (e.g. MetaMask, Rabby) when logging in. Everything in these docs works the same either way: the only difference is who holds the signing keys, and whether Astro can submit certain transactions for you automatically (see Gas Drip).
